Tour Description:
Batu Bolong Temple
Embark on a full day to discover the legacy of the ancient Balinese kingdom and its Hindu beliefs in Lombok. Your dedicated guide will pick you up at the hotel in Senggigi at 8:30 a.m., and a short drive will take you to Batu Bolong Temple. Despite its modest size, Batu Bolong Temple is one of Lombok’s most captivating Hindu temples. Located on the rocks facing the Lombok Strait and Mount Agung, the temple’s name, “Batu Bolong,” translates to “rock with hole,” inspired by the hole in the rock underneath the temple.
Mandalika Market
Proceed by car towards Mandalika Market for an authentic experience of the hustle and bustle of a traditional Indonesian market. Explore the vibrant stalls, interact with local vendors, and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this busy marketplace.
Narmada Water Palace
Continue your journey to Narmada Water Palace, where the legend of a “Fountain of Youth” might have originated. Built by one of the last kings of Lombok in 1805, this palace served as his summer retreat. When the King became too old to make the pilgrimage to Mount Rinjani’s crater lake, he constructed a replica of the lake within the palace grounds and made his offerings there using the purest spring water that flows from Mount Rinjani’s crater lake.
Lingsar Temple
After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Lingsar Temple, built in 1714. Pass through Cakranegara’s commercial center to reach this sprawling temple, which is the holiest in Lombok. Lingsar Temple was constructed by King Agung Ngurah to symbolize the harmony between Hindu Bali and Islam Sasak Lombok, featuring a temple for Balinese Hindus and a shrine for Wektu Telu, Lombok’s mystical interpretation of Islam.
Mayura Water Palace
The final stop of your excursion is the Mayura Water Palace, built around 1744 by King Made Ngurah of Karangasem. Observe the floating pavilion at the center and learn about the court of justice during the reign of the Balinese Kingdom in Lombok. Reflect on the rich history and cultural heritage as you explore this tranquil palace.
